Water Awareness Month
The North Coast County Water District, along with other water agencies across
state, observe Water Awareness Month during the month of May.
Water Awareness Month educates Californians of all ages on water issues and encourages wise
use of water resources. The ultimate goal is to develop an awareness of water and the
need to conserve water throughout the city and the environment.
The District is currently accepting entries for the 2012 Water Awareness Month Poster Contest. The contest is open to public, private and home-schooled students from kindergarten to 5th grade, who reside or attend school in Pacifica. Entry deadline is May 9th. View Flyer and Official Rules

At the May Board Meeting, North Coast County Water District Board of Directors honored ten Pacifica elementary students who won the annualWater Awareness Poster Contest.
Among those who received awards for the 2nd Grade Division were: 1st place Sarah Alderson of Vallemar School, 2nd Place Masha Vtorushina of Vallemar School, 3rd Place Grace Duncan of Vallemar School. The winners of the 3rd-4th Grade Division were: 1st Place-Cameron Powell of Cabrillo School, 2nd Place Analiese Lakey of Cabrillo School, 3rd Place Nina Griestins-Pfirrmann of Vallemar School. The winners of the 5th Grade Division were: 1st Place -Maya Azzaro of Good Shepherd School, 2nd Place-Naomi Tiggs of Good Shepherd School, 3rd Place Esteban Thumas of Good Shepherd School. In addition, Nico Belloumini of Vallemar School was awarded an Honorable Mention for his poster.
Vice-President of the Board of Directors, Joshua Cosgrove, presented each winner with a certificate and art gift, acknowledging each winner’s creativity and style. The NCCWD thanked all of the teachers and students who participated in the contest, which helps educate the importance of water conservation during Water Awareness Month.
