Easement Maintenance
As part of our annual maintenance program, the District will schedule waterline easement clearing throughout our service area. Clearing will involve removal of trees, brush and other obstructions that interfere with access to the below ground waterlines. In some cases, crews will need to utilize heavy machinery and equipment to assist with the removal.
During emergency conditions, such as a water main break, it is critical that we have access to the easement area and the ability to work within it. The District has over 127 miles of easement and makes an effort each year to maintain access to these easements. An additional advantage of maintaining clean easements is that they also provide access to fire crews and create potential fire breaks in areas that are heavily vegetated.
We schedule work to be performed between May and July each year, depending on site circumstances and/or weather conditions.
