2025 Water-Wise Garden Contest Entries
GARDEN A
Irrigation method(s):
By Hand
Tell us about your landscape:
I replaced my front lawn with drought-tolerant and deer-resistant plants, including sage, salvias, flax, cordyline, lantana, and a Japanese Maple. I created a paver walkway to the front entry and a pathway of Dymondia that leads to the side yard. I selected an array of plants for a variety of color, height, and texture. A layer of shredded mulch holds down weeds and retains moisture in the soil. Once established, minimal watering and maintenance will be required and will look great year-round.
GARDEN B
Irrigation method(s):
Drip Irrigation
Tell us about your landscape:
Work began in the garden in March 2025. The irrigation system that is being used is a Drip Irrigation. I wanted a drought-tolerant front yard with a pathway leading to the side gate. My landscaper helped me by designing & installing coastal succulent plants in the front yard main area. A mix of mini Mexican cobblestones & a couple of flagstones were placed along a pathway made of decomposed granite ground cover. Large boulders were added, causing the garden to become more charming & very enchanting.
GARDEN C
Irrigation method(s):
Drip Irrigation
Tell us about your landscape:
The yard is completely on a drip irrigation system, and installed this year. There are 2 tons of rocks I collected as a child when I belonged to the mineralogical society.
It was a lawn, and then the children grew up. I wanted to share with others the beauty around us.
Thank you for participating !
